My family is a homophobic. Living with my homophobic family is nothing but hell on Earth. Yes we may have our good times, however being homosexual and living with someone who hates gay people brings nothing but arguments, fights and tears. Thinking about how she gave birth to me and then suddenly hating for who I am is ignorant and disgusting. I haven’t personally told her that “I am” because of personal reasons. I try to defend gays and lesbians anytime they see or hear something about homosexuals in the media. Like two gay men or two women being married or gay couples raising children. All they do is give nasty remarks and homophobic slurs. I honestly can’t believe why my they are like this. 

All they ever say about two men or two women being together is:

• It’s disgusting, it’s not natural, it’s just plain wrong
• Gay marriage will just encourage people to be gay
• Because the the Leviticus verse in the bible says it’s an abomination

I can basically retaliate against these opinions with facts and information, and I have! But the one thing I can’t really respond to is when my mom says: 
“I raised a son not a daughter” 

Being gay is not the same as dreaming to be a girl.

I can go on and on, but the one thing I can’t change about my mom’s opinion is her negative point of view on gays. It’s possible to change perspective, but you just can’t change my true feelings towards a sex. I’d trade everything you’ve given me materialistically for a mother that supports me emotionally and mentally, and not with money and clothes.
